The best time to dive in Alor is generally from April to December, which coincides with our dry seasons, as this is when both visibility and weather are at their best. Outside of these months the weather can be wetter, with choppier surface conditions and reduced visibility. Bubu Dive Alor will be open for the 2026 season from mid-April to mid-December.

Given the sometimes challenging conditions when diving in Alor's unpredictable currents, we recommend that divers have a minimum of 30 logged dives, to ensure everyone fully enjoys what Alor has to offer.

For divers who prefer calmer conditions, consider diving during the half moons.

Water temperatures in the Alor archipelago can vary dramatically depending on location and moon cycles. - North dive sites and Kalabahi Bay have average temperatures of 26-28°C.

- Southern dive sites, where currents can be stronger, usually see cooler average temperatures (24-26°C). However, during the full or new moon, southern sites can sometimes have thermoclines ranging from 15-23°C.
